A blend of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot (15% natural alcohol), the 2004 was aged primarily in new French oak (about 94%) and the balance American oak and older French barrels. The production was 1,650 cases, and the hot, short growing season resulted in a dense purple-colored wine with graphite, smoked herb, blueberry and creme de cassis characteristics intertwined with a distinct earthiness. The acidity is low, but sufficient, and the wine possesses lots of glycerin as well as a generous, corpulent personality. It retains a youthful appearance and taste, so I suspect it has another 20 years of life ahead of it. However, I would not hesitate to drink it now. Anticipated Maturity: now-2030.  -- Rated 94 points by Robert Parker
