This is Damilano's classic Barolo (we are urged to no longer use the word "base") that is made with fruit sourced from various sites across the appellation. The 2013 Barolo Lecinquevigne is fragrant and intense with a mounting sense of aromatic importance and persistence. The effect is really quite beautiful because this wine literally blossoms in the glass before you. In terms of a Barolo that is not from a single vineyard, this wine is at the head of the class. On the quality versus price ratio, it offers great value. Some 60,000 bottles were made, so you should have no problem locating this wine. Monica Larner, Wine Advocate 93 pts.
