Clos Rogue Valley - Cab. Franc

Portland boutique winemaker Leah Jørgensen continues to focus her attention and efforts on Southern Oregon, where she’s established relationships with growers such as Quail Run Vineyards. In this case, the Moore family offered choice blocks of its Sundown Vineyard to Jorgensen on Oct. 16, who turns her best three barrels of Salmon-Safe fruit into an intense Old World approach with the Loire Valley’s most popular red grape. Jorgensen nurtures a theme of oregano, anise, saddle leather, eucalyptus, cassis, dried cherry and savory black olive that opens the door to a wide range of food applications. And the proud product of Sweet Briar College suggests serving her most prized wine with pan-seared trout with fennel, roast chicken with aromatic herbs, lamb, duck, pasta with oregano-influenced tomato sauce, mushroom-based vegetable dishes or a cheese plate featuring an assortment of blue, Camembert,  aged cheddar, smoked gouda, Rogue Creamery’s Oregonzola and Wensleydale.
